Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working with NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located in Washington DC. A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981, she began covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was made the chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. She served on an advisory panel during the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable reports over the years, such as fiscal reform, the budget and an investigation into the Iran Contra scandal. She travelled frequently together with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
